And just a bit of info on the way results are done...
When each horse is entered in its first race, it recieves a randomized set of stats dictating how it likes different surfaces, conditions, distances, etc. The higher the numbers, the more chances the horse has to win in any given conditions. Conditions are all randomized before I begin results, and factored into each race.
Certain factors, like moving up/down in class, winning the last time out, being a very consistant runner, fillies running in colts races, etc can add or subtract from the horses abilities and affect the race's outcome.
But, this doesn't mean that certain horses will always beat certain other horses. Because the results are, after all the calculations are made, still done using the randomizer, there is always that element of chance. Just because a horse has only, say, 4 chances to win, and is competing against higher scored horses, doesn't mean the randomizer will never pick one of the 4 numbers assigned to that horse! =)
Also, the stats are not always static. Generally, at the beginning of each new year, I'll run all the horses through the randomizer to see whether their stats will go up, down, or stay the same.
So, keep that in mind when you're looking at the results. Just because your horse is doing badly now doesn't mean it will always do badly. Try a different distance or surface, or maybe it will mature as it gets older and will kick butt as a three year old. lol.
Oh, and a note about breeding horses; when two horses are bred, the parents' stats will have a bearing on the baby's in some fashion. I'm in the process of figuring out the best way to make that happen.
I'll be making a post about training sometime today, hopefully, if I ever get my homework finished. lol.
Have fun. =)
