Well, I thought it might be fun to run something a little bit different for all the eventers out there, to help keep them on their toes during the winter off-months.
February 8th through 10th, 2008
Simple Charms Equestrian Center, Middleburg, VA[/center]
For those of you not familiar with a combined test, I thought I'd give a brief description. Essentially, a combined test is taking two of the three phases of eventing (in this case, dressage and show jumping). CTs are a good way to school a horse at a higher level, or to just work on lowering that dressage score in a more affordable and casual environment.
In addition to the CT, we will also be holding a schooling horse trials. Competitors will be allowed to take their mounts out on the cross country on Friday and school around the exact course that will be run during the event.
As a final option, we will also be offering the chance to school over any and all of our cross country fences without taking part in the competition.
--Regulations--
.Horses competing in the combined test can NOT also compete in the horse trials, and vice versa. However, horses competing in the combined test may school the cross country course.
.A horse may enter only one level of competition.
.All general rules will follow the guidelines of the BHTA and BITS.
.Competitors entering the schooling HT are not required to school the cross country course, and may not do so if they wish to treat the event as a true test. However, there will be no distinction in the final scoring between horses that did and did not school the course; in other words, those that schooled the course will still be eligible for ribbons.
.Please respect the grounds and all the volunteers who are working hard to make this weekend a success.
.Attire is casual, though please show respect for the judges by dressing neatly. Suggested attire would include polo shirt and tan/beige breeches. No coats necessary, and tall boots are not required.
.The cross country course will be open for schooling on all day Friday and Saturday morning. Dressage and show jumping will be held Saturday for both CT and HT divisions, with the cross country for the HT running on Sunday.
