I see I'm the first new 'kid' on the block in quite a while, and thats a little odd for me. I'm not used to being the new kid haha.
I've been a SIMmer for about 6 years now, started out with games I can't even remember the names of, and progressed to message board / email played games. Got tired of the constant email checking, and pretty much stayed with message board based games since.
I'm the owner of another, to stay unnamed, SIM, to keep my anonyminity. I've owned/run it for about 5 years strong now. While I love my game to death, and it will come first, I needed a break from it as well, and the desire to just PLAY became very strong in the last few months. I've got a lot going on in my end of things there, and most of the time I'm doing more admin/maintence stuff than actually playing.
This is a little like going from being the big bad 8th grader in Middle School, to being a Freshman in HS. LOL.
So, here I am, where I'll keep a small herd of very different horses and just do different things haha.
Anyways, I'll be 30 this year, divorced 3 years, have joint custody of my 2 kids. One in 2nd grade, the other starts Kindergarden this fall. I'm currently unemployed, but even when I'm working (which I should be rather soon... money is running low lmao), its rarely more than part time. My ex has the kids most of the weekend, so I usually have a lot more free time than most single moms do.
I did manage to attempt a return to college last fall, got though the semester only to find out with 2 weeks left, that my tuition payment had somehow *failed* to go through, and I had been dropped from ALL my classes. I was NOT happy to say the least, and with christmas, still owing the back tuition money, and facing paying for the Spring Semester .... it was all too much and until I can afford to pay the Fall Semester off, I'm not attending anything.
My goal was to complete the Equine Science Degree I started when I graduated HS when Dino's ruled the earth. I also decided to begin the coursework for a Graphic Design Degree as well.
So anyways, the only other importaint items... started riding when I was 3, had a couple horses when I was a kid, hit high school and the beginning of my Sophmore year my mom found an ad in a local paper advertising riding lessons in exchange for mucking/feeding. I was not yet 16 ... the ranch ended up being a Paso Fino Breeding / Showing / Training Facility and I was taken on as the youngest of 5 people to answer the ad. I was told that I wouldn't make it, and was expected to 'drop out' after a couple of weeks. LOL. By the time I was a Senior in high school, I had a room in the house, was managing the place in the owners absence, and single handedly responisble for the daily care of 30 some odd horses, including boarders. (thats 30 stalls to muck out 2ce a day by oneself....... ...plus feeding, turn outs, riding, etc ... but I did it daily!) I stayed for some time after I graduated, and finally left on good terms when I registered for college classes that fall.
Fast forward a decade+ through marriage, 2 kids, divorce... lol ....then fall '06 I answer another paper ad for Help Wanted. This time its a Quarter Horse Pleasure Trainer looking for a show Groom & General Assistant. I went for an interview, and was hired on same day. That job was both the best and the worst job I've ever had ... it taught me what NOT to do and yet I learned more about how to properly groom a horse than I ever dreamed I would lol. I ended up leaving the job last fall, almost a year to the day, under very bad circumstances. I had resisted falling into their 'trap' to play me against their other assistant (whom I had become VERY good friends with) while they were trying to pit her against me. It was not a good place to be for either of us, and they ended up loosing both of us over it all. From the grape vine, we've been hearing that most of their clients aren't that happy either with the quality of training, prices, treatment of the horses, and just their whole attitude.
Oh. Well.
Now I'm just bummin around the house, takin care of the kiddos & the Boyfriend, and looking for a job.
There is one thing big goin on though for me lately ... my freind from the QH Barn (the co-worker) and I have begun planning a summer Kids Camp located in the Boarding Facility she leases/manages. She was teaching 90% of the lesson kids that were attending the barn for lessons, which is what her career goal is. After she left, she continued on teaching freelance, and now has a very nice sized clientelle. Its gonna be a LOT of work, but highly worth it for both of us. Its the first time I've ever been involved with something like this, but already I'm hooked, and will probably contine to plan events like this in the future.
I think I have talked enough, and its late, so I'll stop jabbering away and head to bed.
