We had a great show, this time around. A bit small, but promising.
The day dawned a bit misty and drizzly, but by the time the sun came out, everything cleared up and we had a beautiful day. =)
1. Eventing Prospect In-Hand, 3 and Under.
With only one entrant, this class was more of a formality than a competition. =) But Pixle strutted her stuff and put on a good show nonetheless, definitely looking the part of a future eventer.
1st Pixle - 51 - Emma Cochrane* - CE - CE
2. Pre-Entry
The two Chincoteague Ponies went head to head in the Pre-Entry division, with Arrowhead coming out victorious by barely a penalty point. Both ponies went clean in both Stadium and Cross Country, so the placings were decided by Arrowhead's 41.9 penalty dressage test, and Victorian Rose's 42.6!
1st Arrowhead - 47 - Annie Mclaugh* - CE - CE
2nd Victorian Rose - 41 - Annie McLaugh* - CE - CE
3. Entry
HEC Grey's Anatomy performed beautifully today, just bounding over the cross contry and stadium courses. His 40.9 penalty dressage test wasn't as strong as the other entrants', but he came out on top after a few minor mistakes on their parts. Xavier had a gorgeous dressage test, finishing with 38.7 penalties, but had a rail in the stadium ring to put him behind HEC Grey's Anatomy in the final standings. Cabaret had the best dressage test of the day, with an amazing 29.0 penalties, but had a refusal at the water crossing on cross country, putting her in 3rd place.
1st HEC Grey's Anatomy - #101 - Patrick Hall - Ally/Patrick* Hall - SMHP
2nd Xavier - 69 - Evanthe - Evanthe - WEC
3rd Cabaret - 48 - Philip Popov* - CE - CE
4. PreTraining
Our largest division of the day, the Pretraining division was also one of the closest. Kilkenny led the whole day, with a 40.0 in dressage, and clean cross country and stadium rounds. Rainbow's Abbey Road was a close second, with a 42 in dressage, and again, clean in both stadium and cross. The third place finisher, HEC Reminiscent Raider, garnered only 41.5 penalties in dressage, but a rail in stadium dropped them down a placing. With a 40.2, Stonecroft Black Sword was poised to take second place, but a few time penalties on cross country, and an unlucky rail at the last stadium fence left him and rider Maddy Green* in fourth place. The incredibly colourful Momentarily In The Spotlight finished fifth, with a refusal on cross country adding 20 penalties to their 45.2 dressage score. Skip A Beat, 3rd after dressage with a 40.9, had two refusals at the cordwood on cross country, adding 60 penalties to their score, as well as 10 time penalties. Jessie*, however, didn't let their bad luck on cross phase her, and came back to ride a gutsy, fast, and clean stadium round.
1st Kilkenny - 50 - Maya Kenedy - CE - CE
2nd Abbey Road - 88 - Meghan Lawrence* - Rainbow - WEC
3rd HEC Reminiscent Raider - #102 - Ally Hall - Ally/Patrick Hall - SMHP
4th Stonecroft Black Sword - 100 - Maddy Green* - Rainbow - WEC
5th Momentarily In The Spotlight - 70 - Casey - Casey - SMHP
6th Skip A Beat - 87 - Jessie Carlisle* - Rainbow - WEC
5. Training
This was an exciting division, as both horses tied in dressage, with a score of 37.8! It looked like we were going to have to resort to the optimum time to break the tie after both went clean cross country, but stadium did the job for us. Steve* took Gaelic Song round the outside track on one of the tighter turns, and finished with just 1 unlucky time fault, leaving them in second place.
1st Rhiannon - 52 - Pavel Karov* - CE - CE
2nd Gaelic Song - 83 - Steve Karon* - Rainbow - WEC
