Hey everyone! =D
My name's Maya, I'm 19, and I live in Stouffville, Ontario, Canada...
I decided to start BITS a few months ago, and recruited some fellow SIMmers as co-conspirators... and that's how we ended up here.
So yep, thought I should introduce myself...
I've been riding for about 10 years, doing just about every english discipline in that time lol.. Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage, Eventing, Polo... I'm currently working at a pizzeria, making pizza and doing deliveries. Seriously, the best job ever. I'm also working part-time for the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority in the Archaeology department, as a field and office assistant.
As of September, I'll be in second year at Trent University, in pursuit of my Bachelors of Forensic Science, Honours... I'm debating what to do after I graduate, but I have no real idea yet =P
Right now, I have 6 lovely horses which I'll tell you alll about, and I'm currently looking at possibly buying a 7th...
Napoleon Brandy ['Nappy'] is my old wonderhorse; he was my first horse and I've had him for 7 years.... Took me from Pre-Entry eventing all the way up to Training level before his soundness prevented us from going further. He's a buckskin Trakehner gelding, just turned 22 this year. Though he's getting up there in age, he's still going strong =P This year's been kind of a write-off, since he slipped an iliosacral a while back and has been getting chiropractic twice a week since then. But, he's still leading the region by 2% in PreTraining Dressage, and he was 4th at his one Entry event this year! =P Hopefully next year he'll be back on his game and I can get him back up to where he was a few years ago... He has competed to 4th level dressage, and done the 4'6" jumpers.
I've pretty much made the decision to retire him from jumping, though if he's sound enough next year, he may make a few appearances in a few classes.
He's the best horse I could ever have asked for, and I absolutely love him to bits. He's staying with me forever. =)
Formerly my sister's horse, WJD Abra Cadabra ['Junior'] was kind of shunted to me when she quit riding... He's a 1991 Liver Chestnut Morgan gelding, and the biggest sweetheart you'll ever meet. Right now, my former coach is using him as a school horse, where he's teaching little kids to jump cross rails and post to trot and the like. =P He's was a national halter champion as a yearling, two year old, and three year old, but whatever happened to him as a youngster, he's now a nutcase at shows. =/ Plus, the stress of showing causes some laminitis flair-ups... so doesn't show anymore, and he's happier that way.

Next, along came Indiza ['Indi'], who I bought as a crazy, wild 10 month old who had never been handled, except to be beaten onto a trailer anytime they had to move her... But, her other option was the meat factory... so... yeah. She was a complete wacko for a while, to the point of being dangerous and fracturing several bones in my face. I broke her as a 2 year old, and she was pretty good, but she was still pretty unstable with anything going on around her, so I turned her back out for a few years. She's 5 now, and I've just started working with her again. She's doing wonderfully, and I'm really proud of how she's grown up. =) She's a 2001 chestnut Thoroughbred mare, and a granddaughter of Forty Niner. I'm planning to start showing her next year, and possibly breed her in the future.
Peter came next, starting out as a temporary 'companion' for Indi to stop her breaking through any more fences in a panic every time one of the other horses left her sight... But he's kind of been ..left here, and I don't think his owner wants him back. He's a 13ish year old chestnut tobiano Shetland Pony gelding... He used to be a school pony, but he dumped one kid too many, and then foundered really badly. He's still a complete jerk, though, when he wants to be, and tends to think he's a stallion when he meets other ponies. Cute, cute little bugger.
Continuing along ...I went to the local livestock auction a few months ago to buy some water buckets... and I always look at the horses, to see what's selling . Anyway, I couldn't pass up this sweetheart of a gelding, so I convinced my mother to put up the 1700 for him and brought him home. I knew nothing about him, other than his barn name was Byron, and that he was a 2000 Dark bay Thoroughbred gelding, so I peeked at his tattoo and called the Jockey Club... $50 later, they informed me that his registered name is Lord Herbert, that he's sired by Kentucky Derby winner Lil E Tee, and that he was a complete and utter failure on the racetrack. I tried to get his papers from the racing office at Woodbine, but his original owner claims the horse was ...'stolen' from him slash disappeared without his knowing about it slash something weird like that, so I doubt that will be happening any time soon. Anyway, he's very, very green, but learns incredibly fast... His level of training was grossly misrepresented to me when I bought him, and it turns out he'd only been ridden regularly for about 2 weeks. Not knowing this, I took him to a show the weekend after I bought him, where he jumped around three 2' courses completely clean, never even having seen a single colourful jump, oxer, or a course before. Verrry impressed with this little guy. Huge sweetheart, too. He's also the dead quiet, completely bombproof one who doubles as a school horse when I have to stick someone up on a horse. lol.

lastly, I've got a mare on a free lease for the summer, as I had hoped to test my Pony Club B level on her... but Nappy attacked her lol so she's a bit cut up. She needed a bit of rest, and since she's been off for 2 years already, I don't want to push her to be ready for the August test date. Her name's PJ, and she's a chestnut Trakehner/Standardbred cross by Carino. Very pretty girl, I'm sad I have to give her back in September.
And, I'm currently considering buying another gelding who's been offered to me by my equine chiropractor... He's giving me an incredible deal, so all I need to do is have the horse vetted before I decide. He's a 1996 Gray Thoroughbred gelding, competed to Intermediate level eventing in the states, and is schooled to 3rd level dressage. Apparently he's a bit of a tank, but I haven't ridden him yet, so we shall see. He's a cutie, though, so I'm hoping he x rays ok... I'm pretty stressed out by the whole situation, as all my future testing [I'm aiming for my A, I've just never had a horse who could do it] relies on him. Plus, he'll be the only horse who can immediately go out and do something significant lol... All my babies are going to be at Pre Entry and Entry for a while. I'm hoping to be taking him prelim by the end of next year.
I've been Simming for... at least 10 years, starting out in Golden Stirrups before moving on to Equine Dreams, WALK, TROT, CANTER, Golden Fields... and a few more that I've both played and admined. I've been in TROT since 1998, and I'm hoping to bring that long-term experience to BITS.
In BITS, I've opened Camelot Enterprises, LTD, where I'm planning to specialize in German Warmbloods [namely Rhineland-Pfalz-Saars], Friesians, and Thoroughbred racehorses. I've also got a few Chincoteague Ponies, since in RL my parents are planning to start breeding them next year and they're adorable, and may add Reining horses to the mix later on.
I'm planning to start up the BITS Jockey Club and to get the racing season up and running first... then I'm hoping to put together a BITS Equestrian Federation to govern all Hunter, Jumper, Dressage, and Eventing competitions.
Aaanyway. I've typed WAY too much, and I'm incredibly tired from work, so it probably didn't make much sense. Plus I'm hungry, and that's just not good. So I will shut up now and go do something useful.
