Hey y'all! I'm Christie (shocking, I know!) I guess I'll throw in a quick bio: I'm 19 and currently in my second year at Texas A&M University. I'm an eventing nut, and I was lucky enough to get to bring my horse Joe Cool down to school with me this semester! He's a 15 yr old bay Thoroughbred gelding (for those interested in the stats ) and we do eventing together, though we've both been away from competitions and, really, riding in general, for nearly two years now. But we're working at it, so we'll see. I haven't really decided what discipline(s) or breeds to focus on here in BITS, though I doubt I'll be able to keep myself away from eventing. But I thought I'd take a quick mini-poll, and just ask y'all what's popular around here. Can't wait to meet everyone and get started here in BITS! .Christie.

Hey Christie, I'm Maya, one of the Admins. =D Welcome to BITS, again As for what's popular... we've got a very wide variety so far... Eventing & Dressage are pretty big, as are stock breeds and drafts. Thoroughbred racing is also starting to gain popularity Whatever you choose to specialize in, I can't wait to see what horses you bring in!

Hey Christie, Welome to BITS. It is a very friendly game and everyone is so helpful. I'm Jen and I own Diamond Elite Farms and I am a stockbreed girl. In RL I have an app mare and have only ever shown stockbreed horses. Gwen and I are the larger stockbreed enthusiasts in the game, but I do have several thoroughbreds and have recently gotten into racing as well. Maya summed up the popular disciplines pretty well. Whatever you decide to bring to BITS I'm sure will fit in and we all get along really well considering all our different interests in the equine world. Hope you have fun here!

Thanks for the welcome Maya and Jen! Well honestly, I was figuring that I'd end up in eventing, but the fact that it's popular here just makes it all the better! I might eventually get into some racers as well, I don't really ever seem to be able to keep myself to one discipline for long, but we'll see. Thanks again for the warm welcomes! .Christie.

Hey Christie, I'm Evanthe and I am the draft horse enthusiast. Although, I like tend to spread out some in breeds. I like all breeds of horses. A majority of my stock is of the draft breed though. I have disciplanes all over the boards though, from racing to eventing to western pleasure. You name it, I probably have a horse that does it, lol. Also, next year I will start breeding to get mules of all sorts, from warmblood mules to draft mules to stock breed mules. It will be interesting. So if you're interested, I could breed you a mule to do eventing next year, if you ask real nice, lol. ^_-*wink* I own White Lotus Farm and the White Lotus Feed and Supply store. Check those two out as soon as you get the chance.
As for RL, I'm 18 yrs old(19 in Jan.) and I don't own a horse of my own(all of you are li=ucky ducks to have one). If I could get a horse I would get a draft horse, they are really cool. So versitile for their big size. I've seen a few draft horse that do eventing as well(ha ha, how do you all like them apples, lol ^_^). I'm going to a little Dental Assisting school and I only have three more Saterday's to go until I am certified and can look for work(not counting tomorrow).

Thanks for all the welcomes! I'm loving how active this board is Haha Evanthe, I may just have to take you up on the eventing mule offer And I'll definatly admit that draft horses are pretty snazzy...there are a few Thoroughbred/Clydsdale crosses that event down here, and they always seem so big and calm hehe. The barn I'm at down here actually has a 17.3 hand TB/Percheron cross, he's a really cool guy. And hey, he doesn't even have to actually jump to get over the fences ;D .Christie.

Hola Christie, and welcome! I'm the resident Dressage Queen (though not the first dressage enthusiast in the game) without the DQ attitude. In real life I'm in college, teaching riding lessons and do lots and lots of equine photography, which is my specialty. What are you studying at TA&M? I'm a graphic design major. ) No horses here but I "share" a 16 y/o pony with my student since he can be a cacahead a lot! Enjoy the game!

I'm a Biomedical Science major Honestly, what was I thinking? I'm not even a fan of science! Haha. Actually, I'm hoping to go to the vet school here once I'm done with undergrad, so I guess I should get used to science Equine photography, awesome! I was actually just thinking this morning how awesome it would be to be able to take a class specifically for equine photography. I absolutely love taking pictures of my friends with my little digital camera, though they aren't exactly that great once they're normal size. But I always feel so happy when I get the timing of a horse over a fence right ;D .Christie.

Hey Christie! I'm apparently *extremely* slow in replying to this. I'm Rainbow, the final admin. I am a dressage rider (although I must admit that Kristin is, without a doubt, *the* dressage queen in this game...) in real life, and I half-lease an Appendix QH gelding, Murray. He was my trainer's show horse years ago - at sixteen now, he's pretty much the advanced dressage lesson horse (he did up to third level) of my barn. Somewhere on the boards, there's a pic of me and him. =)
In the game, I own Wildwind Equestrian Centre, and specialise in Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, and ponies (specifically Dales Ponies), as well as the disciplines of dressage, hunters, and stadium jumping. I've got a few eventers and a couple of racers as well. As everyone has already said, there's a wide variety of interest, so whatever you get into, you will fit in just fine!
As for real life (I'm horribly bored right now - can you tell?) I'm still in high-school. My life outside of the barn consists of Model United Nations meetings, church youth-group meetings, and school. =P I read obsessively, on anything and everything, whenever I have time, and I am listening to music pretty much constantly. I also knit, sew, make jewellery, and watch movies. And I have a strange interest in history and foreign languages.
I probably just completely bored you to death - if I made any sense, that is. =P If you want to read any more about me, my introductory post is at the bottom of the board somewhere, and there's a link to my Livejournal on my profile.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your horses!

Hehe, no, I loved it Rainbow! It's actually really good for me, because -totally random topic- I'm watching a countdown of the top 30 scariest horror movie moments on Bravo, and it's REALLY freaking me out Hehe. Third level, wow! Dressage impresses me, especially now that I'm trying to get my horse to do it He prefers to fake it and not use the correct muscles haha. And I'm totally with you on the loving to read; I hate not having enough time for it always now. That and I just can't seem to find a book to really throw myself in to. And you are totally my hero for knowing how to do things like knit and sew haha...my roommate is sewing her own costume for Halloween, and it just amazes me, cause I honestly have no idea to do anything domestic like that. Wow, that was pretty random haha. Again though, thanks for all the awesome welcomes! .Christie.

Just schooling some cross country... I actually was thinking of taking some pictures of him today while I'm out at the barn, so I'll make sure to post some more close-up pictures later tonight -- he's getting a bath today, so he should look snazzy ;D .Christie.

Your horse is so cute! You guys look like an awesome team. And that is a fairly substantial jump lol...
I love my Kerrits breeches... I have the nice fleecy winter ones. =P
Haha, I don't actually *ride* third level... I can do a solid training level test, and we're working on first level - I can do shoulder-ins (second level) and leg-yields (first level) and a bit of haunches-in (third level), as well as flying lead changes (fourth level), but not an actual whole third level test lol. That's my goal. For someday. =P
And yeah, I sewed my homecoming dress this year. I was going to make myself a halloween costume, but I don't have time. =/ I learned because I was obsessed with dolls when I was little, and I wanted really elaborate period costumes for them (because I love history). So I asked my grandmother to help me make them, and she ended up teaching me to sew them myself. =)

Hehe, I love those Kerrits breeches I definatly don't have the winter ones though...winter in Texas doesn't quite require it That's awesome Rainbow -- my dressage trainer was trying to get Joe & I to do a turn on the haunches the other day hehe...it was interesting And she jokingly likes to say that we're working on our canter pirouttes, cause when Joe gets frustrated he tends to spaz out a little bit, and he'll end up counter-cantering in a little tiny circle He makes it so much harder on himself haha...all I wanted was a canter! .Christie.

Gorgeous picture of you and your horse! I'm not much for eventing, but I'm learning from the girls on BITS. I love seeing pics of people and their horses. Can't wait to see him after his bath. I like watching horror movies this time of year. Yes they seriously freak me out, and yet I come back for more. Even though I might spend most of my time watching with my eyes closed I just made a friend of someone who graduated from Texas A & M. I'm from Michigan and she moved up here to finish a PhD Equine Science (I think). Shes working in the barn where my mare is boarded. She said she really had to get used to Michigan winters, being from Texas. Well I'm babbling and I better stop.

Haha yeah, I can't even imagine what real winters are like -- it's been in the low 60's this week, and it feels so cold! I know, I'm weak And I love watching the scary movies too, though they really do scare the poo outta me. I went and saw the new Texas Chainsaw Masscre with some high school friends back home last weekend; it wasn't so much scary as really, really gorey. But yeah, the scariest movie moments was definatly freaking me out last night And thanks for all the compliments from everyone on the pic...I just love my boy, what can I say! .Christie.

lol you don't know winter until you've experienced Canada. When you have to go out each morning in -40*C blizzards to break ice in water troughs for several months in a row [and require an AXE for the task], THEN you can complain!

Ok Maya, you win I feel like a big baby right now. Was Texas Chainsaw more gorey than the first one? The first one freaked me out. Anyone gonna check out SawIII? When I was little, my mom started my sis and I watching scary movies, the gorier the better. Most people think I have a weird relationship w/my mom when I tell them this, but even now we rent whatever horror movies are out on DVD and make an afternoon of it when I visit. Yup I even think I'm a little weird. Cory and I rented the Omen and Click for tonight (taking in some much needed relaxation after my long week).
