I decided I am going to do a darn proper introduction, so take a deep breath.
Adelai Lape is a 20 year-old amateur who has hopes of going pro as a hunter-jumper trainer. She has been riding Hunters since she was nine - at age 12 she showed in her first year-end equitation finals at 3'6" and hasn't slowed down since. She just returned from a year abroad, which she spent as a working student in Germany. During her time there she rode predominately dressage, refining her technique on the flat and having the opportunity to work as an auction & stallion testing rider. She has been in the States for more than a year, and is really looking to make the "leap" to the professional ranks soon.
The person behind Adelai is aka Katie. I have an interest in Thoroughbred racing and in Hunter-Jumpers. I have been riding for essentially my entire life, although I didn't "really" begin to ride until I was nine. I have spent a lot of time on a lot of different horses. I counted and figured I've ridden well over 50 different horses. I have gone through a series of green horses, most of them "rejects" of some sort or another. Mostly stock-show rejects. I currently have two horses. "Beam Me Up", aka "Scotty" is a 1996 APHA gelding, White w/ Chestnut Tovero gelding. I have had him since October of 2004 now. Last year he defied all odds by showing at some rated shows (and pinning!) at 2'6". Next year we are hoping to cross-enter between Long Stirrup & Childrens at the local rated shows. And my other boy is a 2003 Appendix QH gelding, "Charlie." He still needs a show name, although "After Dark" is topping the list so far. He is jumping 2'6" now, and we put together a 4-jump "course" at 2' on Saturday for the first time. We're hoing to have him do Baby Greens this year, and trainer thinks maybe he'll be able to do some of the bigger shows.
