There is a form on the BITS homepage, MHR page. There is a form that says " Register a created horse", that is the one you want to use. Just fill in the form on the page and click the 'send' button.
You do need to keep track of your money and you can start with up to $300,000.00 that last time I checked.
You enter shows by following the directions and rules given to you on the thread. Look at past shows to see how it is accomplished. It is basically the same for buying a horse, just post which horse you want and if the owner says go ahead and give me a check, then give them a check in the way they state.
As far as member numbers go, I don't think anybody has one. So don't worry about it.
^_^ Hope that helps love.

Everything Evanthe said is right. =) There's the board for entering shows - just find one that your horses can do that is still taking entries and follow the entry format given. They're pretty much all different. I know Gwen's got horses for sale and so does the MHR, so look under those two threads. Basically let the owner know you're interested in the horse and if they ask for your plans, let them know what you're planning to do with the horse. Then, they'll most likely give you the OK and you can post a cheque!
I find that the best way to keep track of your finances is in an Excel spreadsheet. It totals everything up for you all nicely and there's plenty of space to record everything. =)
Hopefully that helped!
